General Responsibilities:
The Preschool Teacher is responsible for planning, directing, managing, and implementing the curriculum, activities, assessment and operations of their respective classroom. The Preschool Teacher will work collaboratively with the special education staff, therapists and any other staff to ensure the needs of all students are met. The Preschool Teacher will train, support, direct, and supervise their assigned classroom aide/para.

Minimum Educational/Certification Qualifications:
B.A./ B.S. degree from an accredited college in Elementary or Early Childhood Education or related field is required. Licensure from PTSB in Early Childhood is required. If a Teacher does not possess a degree in Early Childhood or licensure from PTSB in Early Childhood they must possess a Substitute Teaching Permit from PTSB, an Associates Degree in Education and must be working on a teaching degree and licensure in Early Childhood Education.
Essential Duties:
- Plan and implement early childhood activities for your assigned classroom that are aligned to the Wyoming Early Learning Standards, NAEYC Standards, and adopted curricular resources.
- Support services that are provided in accordance with the rules and regulations governing services for children with disabilities according to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) to ensure the goals for students are met. This includes attending meetings, writing the Present Levels of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance (PLAAFP), and collecting data to support the goals.
- Meet weekly and monthly to collaborate with your classroom Special Education Teacher and document and submit meeting minutes.
- Document and submit classroom schedules, behavior plans, lesson plans, data collection, and parent communication as directed.
- Maintain regular verbal and written communication with parents/guardians of children in your assigned classroom and provide periodic status reports to them. Keep a communication log with documentation of parent contact using at least three modes of communication a week.
- Train, support, direct, and supervise classroom aide/paras assigned to the classroom in order to create a cohesive team.
- Supervise/greet students in a timely manner (5 minutes prior to the start/end of your classroom time) and work with your aide/para to ensure all students are checked in/checked out appropriately on a daily basis.
- Daily attendance must be documented in Procare, including sign in for all staff entering or leaving the classroom. Parents/Guardians must be contacted after 5 absences, and the teacher is responsible for letting the Center Secretary know.
- Clean and disinfect rooms (toys, furniture, etc.) with your assigned classroom aide/para.
- Stay informed and in compliance with current laws and practices, which may include attending training, in person or online, or seminars, contingent on budgetary allowance.
- Attend staff meetings, team meetings, training, and other required meetings on time and as scheduled. This includes fundraising events, open house, and parent/teacher conferences.
- Respect the cultural diversity and dignity of others and treat them with fairness and courtesy.
- Must follow all policies and procedures of SCCDC.
- Must be willing to perform other duties as assigned.
Skills Required:
- General computer skills, including in depth knowledge of Google Docs, Sheets, etc.
- Ability to learn new procedures, laws, and software, as needed.
- Ability to work in a collaborative work environment.
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality relative to all matters at SCCDC.
- Must be reliable, organized and detail oriented.
- Ability to interact in a positive and effective manner with a wide variety of people including children, parents, families, staff members, and community members in order to promote positive relationships within the work setting and community.
- Ability to multi-task and manage large and small projects without supervision.
- Must be willing to serve on SCCDC sponsored committees.
- Represent SCCDC in a professional manner.
- Volunteer and participate in organizational fundraising and events as requested.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a variety of positions, including but not limited to: stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, sitting, etc.
- Must be able to lift 35 lbs. unassisted.
- Must be able to tolerate air conditioned buildings and fluorescent lights.
- Must be able to work effectively in a stressful environment.
- Must be able to hear and process ordinary conversation, telephone conversation, and quiet sounds with or without aid.
- Must be able and willing to drive to meet job requirements.
- Must be able to operate and use equipment necessary to perform essential functions of the job.
