What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commercial AVL Designer position at Sweetwater Sound?
Sweetwater, the nation's number one online retailer of music instruments and pro audio gear, is seeking an experienced, driven, and knowledgable Commercial AVL Designer to join our growing Commercial Sound and Integration team! As an AVL Designer, you will be responsible for creating Audio, Video, and Lighting (AVL) system designs and schematics based on customer requirements. These small-to-mid-sized projects will mainly consist of Sales Engineer-driven system builds in studio, sound reinforcement/live audio, and distributed audio/70-Volt categories.
As a Commercial AVL Designer, you will occasionally be tasked with providing designs and schematics for subcontracted projects alongside Sweetwater Integration and third-party installers. Duties may also include communication with clients alongside Sales or Integration staff to ensure alignment on project expectations. All designs and schematics should be practical, scalable, and adhere to industry standards.
Job Responsibilities
- Responsible for designing Commercial Audio, Visual, and Lighting systems for customers, subcontractors, and installers
- Collaborate with Sales Engineers to develop designs that integrate with proposed gear packages and services
- Directly engage with Sales Engineers and customers to understand project needs and specification
- Adjust designs to reflect feedback or changes in scope during pre-sales or project execution stages
- Utilize a variety of different design softwares to complete sketches and system designs
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and standards in AVL system design
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Audio Engineering, Music Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Revit, Blue Beam, or similar design tools
- Strong knowledge of Audio, Visual, and Lighting equipment and their integration in commercial systems
- 3-5 years of design or integration experience
- Experience working with and designing for subcontractors and 3rd party installers preferred
- High attention to detail and ability to collaborate well with others
- Avixa CTS Certification (Avixa CTS-D and/or CTS-I, QSC Q-Sys Level 2, Extron AV, Biamp Tesira, Dante Level III would be nice plus)
