SWI Excavating, a trusted leader in excavation and heavy construction services, is looking for a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join our dynamic team. Key Responsibilities:
- Safely operate and maintain a range of heavy equipment, including excavators, skid steers, loaders, scrapers, and graders.
- Perform daily pre-operational checks to ensure equipment is functioning safely and efficiently.
- Execute excavation, grading, leveling, and material movement tasks on construction sites.
- Read grade stakes and adjust cuts to the proper elevation—without reliance on GPS.
- Collaborate closely with supervisors and team members to meet project timelines and specifications.
- Adhere to safety protocols, maintaining a safe and organized work environment.
- Dig around live utilities (gas, electric, fiber, water, sewer, storm, etc.) with care and precision.
- Assist with other site-related tasks as needed to support team objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 4 years of experience operating heavy equipment in construction or excavation environments.
- Strong working knowledge of excavation, grading, and earth-moving machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and site specifications.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality, safe work.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
- Experience working with underground utilities (water/sewer/storm lines) and pipe laying.
- Ability to operate hand tools (shovels, brooms, etc.) and mechanized equipment with moving blades.
- Comfortable working in proximity to live traffic and heavy machinery.
- Physical ability to lift and carry up to 70 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $34.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 55 per week
