The Used Car Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the dealership’s used car operations. This includes inventory management, sales, pricing, and team leadership. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the automotive industry, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of success in sales and management.
Responsibilities:
- Inventory Management:
- Source and purchase quality used vehicles to maintain a diverse and profitable inventory.
- Appraise and accurately value used vehicles.
- Implement effective inventory control and tracking systems.
- Monitor inventory turnover rates and adjust purchasing strategies accordingly.
- Sales Management:
- Lead and motivate a team of sales professionals to achieve sales goals.
- Train and develop sales staff on product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer service.
- Monitor individual and team performance metrics.
- Implement effective sales strategies and promotions.
- Pricing and Profitability:
- Determine competitive pricing for used vehicles to maximize profitability.
- Analyze market trends and adjust pricing strategies as needed.
- Monitor gross profit margins and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Customer Service:
- Ensure a positive customer experience throughout the entire sales process.
- Resolve customer complaints and issues promptly and professionally.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
- Financial Management:
- Manage departmental budgets and expenses.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial reports.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement efficiency measures.
- Others duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Demonstrates a high “HQ” (Hospitality Quotient) consisting of kindness & optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.
- Proven experience in automotive sales management, preferably in a used car department.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Knowledge of automotive industry trends and best practices.
- Proficiency in dealership management software and systems.
- Valid driver’s license.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Ability to drive various types of vehicles.
