Description
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Assistant Controller to help lead our finance and accounting department. This is the perfect role for someone with accounting management experience looking for their next step! In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and driving strategic decision-making for our family of auto dealerships. The ideal candidate has extensive accounting experience, is familiar with the automotive industry, and implicitly understands GAAPs.
Reports to: Corporate Controller
Key Responsibilities:
- Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including corporate accounting, disbursement, fixed assets, state and local taxes, and treasury.
- Review and approve the accounting team's work for accuracy and consistency.
- Drives standardization and consolidation in operations, processes, and all projects.
- Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations.
- Internal Controls: Implement and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure financial accuracy.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial risks, such as fraud, theft, and operational risks.
- Team Leadership: Lead and manage a team of 7 direct reports in the areas of corporate accounting, fixed assets, disbursement, treasury and tax.
- Audits and Compliance: Oversee external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Other duties and special projects for the organization as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrates a high “HQ” (Hospitality Quotient) consisting of kindness & optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience: Extensive experience in accounting and finance (minimum 5 years), previous automotive experience is a plus but not required.
- Previous Reynolds & Reynolds experience is a plus.
- Certifications: CPA certification preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of GAAP and automotive industry accounting standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in accounting software and systems.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to sit for extended periods, use a computer keyboard and mouse.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds (e.g., boxes of documents).
