Commercial HVAC Estimator


The Commercial HVAC Estimator will be responsible for all take-offs, pricing, and producing the final estimate and/or budgets based upon conceptual documents, schematics, design development, design build and construction documents. The estimator must interface with other members of the project team(s) and complete a hand-off to Project Management once contracts are executed with all project details to be incorporated into the final work product.

Essential Function:

  • Estimate HVAC installation in both engineered and design/build Commercial Projects.
  • Estimate and sell packaged rooftop HVAC equipment, split systems, Cambridge and MUA systems, piping and small chiller on occasion, new and revised duct systems including VAVs.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and proposals to prepare estimates.
  • Perform detailed take-offs for equipment and material pricing.
  • Distribute bid requests to all applicable vendors and subcontractors.
  • Ensure estimates are completed and sent prior to deadlines.
  • Communicate with vendors and suppliers.
  • Review prints and details of projects with Estimator and/or Project Manager.
  • Ensure all job specific instructions are shared with team to lead field personnel.

  • The ability to work both indoors and outdoors, includes exposure to weather elements and climbing ladders.

  • A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.


Education/Knowledge/Skills Requirements (minimal):

  • Bachelor's in Construction Management preferred, not required.
  • Extensive knowledge and mastering of all Foreman competencies required.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry guidelines, installation procedures, and specifications.
  • Extensive knowledge of all types of tools, equipment, materials and resources.
  • Ability to interpret and apply company policies and procedures.

  • Dangerous work sites


Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift and carry 50-100 lbs.
  • Ability to hear and see well.
  • Ability to stand on your feet and bend for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work from platforms/scaffolding (using the appropriate fall protection requirements).
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) with appropriate PPE.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

  • Salary
  • Mon-Fri 700a-400p
  • Ability to work longer hours if needed to meet customer deadlines

  • Deliver superior service experiences to customers.
  • Total volume of estimates completed.
  • Provide clear and detailed work orders.
  • Accuracy of materials and labor budgeted.
  • Profitability of projects awarded.
  • Proper labor productivity and hours applied to estimates.
  • Make sure all jobs have up to date job costing and change orders.
  • Manage multiple projects when assigned and maintain detail orientation.
