What are the responsibilities and job description for the FIber Optic Construction Inspector position at Swift Communications?
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Fiber Optic Construction Inspector to join our team in Butte and Helena, Montana. This full-time, permanent position involves post-construction inspections of completed fiber optic installations. You will be responsible for inspecting the work done by our fiber construction crews to ensure that all installations meet industry standards and project specifications. You’ll be working outdoors in all weather conditions, reviewing and verifying the quality and accuracy of the completed installations.
Ideal candidates will have experience in fiber optic construction, as well as backgrounds in cable TV, copper phone installation/repair, or lineman work. Your expertise will ensure that all completed jobs are up to code and free from errors before final approval.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct post-construction inspections of completed fiber optic installations, ensuring they meet quality and safety standards.
- Inspect fiber optic cable placement, and locations to verify compliance with project specifications.
- Assess completed work for adherence to project guidelines, local regulations, and industry standards.
- Identify and document any deficiencies or issues found during inspections.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, including detailed reports, photos, and notes.
- Provide feedback and recommendations for resolving any issues found during inspections.
- Ensure that all inspections are completed on schedule and within safety protocols.
Required Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365
- Must own a newer Apple iPhone and laptop
- Experience in fiber optic installation or construction
- Background as a cable TV technician, copper phone technician, or lineman is highly preferred
- Knowledge of communications cable types , Copper, Coax, fiber optic cables,
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and quality control skills
- Ability to identify and distinguish different cables on telephone poles and related infrastructure
- Must have reliable transportation (personal vehicle preferred can supply for the right candidate)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a fiber optic construction inspector or in a similar post-inspection role
- Familiarity with OSP construction
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
