Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Generator Service Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for conducting field activities, including installation and maintenance of generators and automatic transfer switches (ATS), across various sites such as telecommunication locations, electric utility substations, commercial properties, and residential properties. Technicians in this position will report directly to the Operations Manager and may be required to travel locally and nationally for both short-term and extended assignments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and perform hot cutovers of generators and automatic transfer switches with limited supervision.
- Service and repair diesel and gaseous generators and ATS, covering a wide range of makes and models.
- Conduct site surveys and oversee the quality control of other technicians' work.
- Test and verify alarms and system functionality to ensure compliance with operational standards.
- Foster and strengthen relationships with customers, ensuring satisfaction and continued business.
- Provide regular field updates to the Operations Manager, as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Drug-Free Workplace: Random drug testing with a zero-tolerance policy in place.
- Previous experience in an industrial service technician role is strongly preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to take initiative, demonstrate perseverance, and tackle challenges head-on.
- Basic to intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook and internet-based applications.
- Willingness to travel frequently, including overnight stays as required.
- Ability to lift up to 100 pounds and comfortably climb stairs and ladders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in computer applications and diagnostic software.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant technical training or experience.
- Proven ability to travel frequently and work extended hours as necessary.
- Strong working knowledge of electrical systems and their components.
- Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently or lead teams effectively.
