Job Title: Clinical Nurse Educator

Position Overview:
The Clinical Nurse Educator will maintain an ongoing nursing education program for nursing staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role provides support to internal and external customers under the supervision of the Clinical Education Manager. The Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for designing, teaching, and evaluating nursing training programs and services, facilitating career development, and coordinating clinical specialty training programs. The role involves independent decision-making and direct collaboration with nursing leadership to maintain staff competency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and evaluate nursing education programs to meet the required standards.
- Assure nursing competency for all assigned staff, including new hires.
- Coordinate nursing service orientation programs, ensuring consistency and quality across all services.
- Serve as a consultant for nursing staff and assist in integrating new learning into practice.
- Provide career development resources and promote lifelong learning opportunities.
- Ensure educational activities align with SEARHC’s mission, goals, and values.
- Coordinate programs such as ACLS, PALS, BLS, NRP, and other required training.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to assess, plan, and implement patient care delivery.
- Evaluate the quality and effectiveness of educational programs and ensure continuous improvement.
- Assist learners in identifying their educational needs and foster a positive learning environment.
- Actively participate in emergency events and hospital-wide initiatives as delegated by the Clinical Education Manager.
- Maintain nursing certifications, licensure, and annual competencies.
Education, Certifications, and Licenses:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing.
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Education, Sociology, or related field.
- Current full, unrestricted Registered Nurse license in the state of Alaska.
- ACLS, BLS, and PALS instructor certification.
- ACLS, PALS, and NRP certifications.
- High school diploma or GED.
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional nursing experience, with at least 2 years as a staff RN in a specialty (ER, ICU, OB, OR).
- At least 1 year of nursing supervisory experience.
- Experience in Med/Surg, Outpatient, and/or Rural settings preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of instructor experience, preferably in a hospital or college setting.
- Evidence of successful completion of a method of instruction or adult education training may substitute for teaching experience on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and procedures.
- Skilled in collaborating to develop and evaluate evidence-based standards of care and training.
- Proficient in conducting comprehensive evaluations of educational activities.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to create and facilitate relevant training for adult learners.
- Demonstrated leadership and ability to work cooperatively with team members.
- Knowledge of patient management, including emergency and resuscitative measures.
- Familiarity with hospital policies and procedures to ensure compliance in training.
