Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery - 8 weeks contract
Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) L&D.. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to laboring mothers and neonates, ensuring safety and optimal health outcomes. This role involves collaborating with patients, families, physicians, and other healthcare team members to deliver holistic, patient-centered care.
Key Responsibilities:Patient Care & Clinical Duties
- Provide direct patient care during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases, ensuring safe and effective care.
- Monitor and assess the health status of mothers and neonates using objective and subjective data.
- Develop individualized care plans, including patient education and counseling, to achieve short- and long-term health goals.
- Assist and educate mothers on breastfeeding and infant care.
- Act as a patient advocate, ensuring the highest quality of care throughout the episode of care.
- Assist physicians with procedures and respond to emergencies within the unit.
Education & Documentation
- Educate mothers on postpartum wellness and infant care.
- Document all patient events, interventions, and education accurately in electronic medical records.
- Collaborate with nursery nurses in providing couplet care.
Team Collaboration & Support
- Communicate patient conditions effectively with physicians and nursing supervisors.
- Support other Family Birthing Center staff in skill development and equipment training.
- Assist staff during emergencies in other nursing units as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment in the Family Birthing Center unit.
Leadership Support
- Assist the nurse manager and other leaders with unit operations as requested.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum Education: Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program.
- Required Experience: 2 years of Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) nursing experience.
Licenses & Certifications:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado.
- Current certifications in:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
- Preferred certifications:
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and focus adjustment.
- Ability to use hands to handle equipment and detect changes in odors when necessary.
