Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Acute Care (Med Surg Unit)
Location: West Burlington, IA
Duration: 13 Weeks
Shift: Night Shift (36 Hours per Week)

Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week contract in the Med Surg Unit at a leading healthcare facility in West Burlington, IA. The RN will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care while adhering to established clinical protocols and procedures. This role requires strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process, including assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation.
• Deliver high-quality care to diverse patient populations, including Geriatric, Medical/Surgical, Adult, and Telemetry.
• Effectively communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry strips; self-study required before assignment begins.
• Successfully pass a Basic Dysrhythmia test during the first week of the assignment to work in the Telemetry/Med Surg Unit.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by the physician and in compliance with facility policies.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and care plans accurately in the Cerner EMR system.
• Ensure compliance with infection control and safety guidelines.
• Float to non-critical care inpatient units and the Emergency Department if required, especially for boarded patients.
• Work every other weekend as part of the required rotation.

Qualifications:

• Active and unrestricted RN license.
• Experience in Medical-surgical/Telemetry).
• ACLS certification required.
• Strong proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia recognition.
• Experience with Cerner EMR is preferred.
• Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and effectively manage patient care in a team setting.
• Must be flexible and willing to float to other units as needed.

Schedule & Compensation:

• 36 hours per week (72 hours per pay period).
• Possibility of overtime based on facility needs.

Additional Information:

• Travelers must complete a self-study on telemetry strips upon acceptance.
• A Basic Dysrhythmia test will be administered during the first week, which must be passed to continue working on the Telemetry/Med Surg Unit.
• Floating to various units is required, including possible assignments in CCU if the traveler has critical care experience.
