Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) - Family Birthing Center (L&D)

Location: Salida, Colorado

Contract Details:

• Duration: 8 weeks
• Hours: 36 per week
• Shift: Night shift, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM

Job Description: Join the team at our Family Birthing Center in beautiful Salida, CO, where you’ll work where others vacation. As a Registered Nurse (RN) in our Family Birthing Center, you will provide comprehensive care to labor and delivery patients and their neonates. You’ll assess and evaluate patient health, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, and deliver exceptional care throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patient Care:
• Provide direct care to laboring patients and neonates, monitoring and managing their responses to care.
• Implement care plans, including patient education and counseling, to promote wellness during pregnancy and postpartum.
• Collaborate with the nursery nurse in the care of mother/baby couplets.
• Education and Advocacy:
• Educate mothers about infant care and breastfeeding.
• Act as a patient advocate, ensuring optimal health outcomes for both mother and baby.
• Team Collaboration:
• Communicate patient conditions to physicians and nursing supervisors verbally and in writing.
• Assist other Family Birthing Center staff in maintaining skills and adapting to new procedures and equipment.
• Support staff with emergencies in other nursing units as needed.
• Documentation and Safety:
• Document patient care and educational efforts in the electronic medical record.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe environment for all patients in the Family Birthing Center.
• Additional Duties:
• Assist physicians with procedures.
• Assist the nurse manager with assigned tasks.

Qualifications:

• Education:
• Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Experience:
• Minimum of 2 years of recent Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) experience.
• Licenses and Certifications:
• Active and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Colorado.
• Current BLS certification.
• Current ACLS certification.
• Current NRP certification (preferred).
• PALS certification (preferred).

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent standing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Close vision for reading medical records and monitoring equipment, color vision to observe patient conditions, and peripheral vision for surroundings.
• Ability to adjust focus from patient care to equipment or other tasks.
