Job Title: X-Ray Technologist (OR) – Operating Room Radiologic TechOverview:
We are seeking an experienced Operating Room (OR) X-Ray Technologist to join our high-volume surgical imaging team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in intraoperative imaging and fluoroscopy to assist surgeons during procedures. This role requires proficiency in portable X-ray, C-arm fluoroscopy, and advanced imaging techniques used in orthopedic, neurological, and vascular surgeries.
Healthcare Setting:
- Operating Room (OR) & Surgical Imaging Department
- Acute Care Hospital/Level I Trauma Center
- Multi-specialty OR environment with high case volume
- Floating within the health system (Rust Medical Center & Presbyterian Kaseman Hospital)
Medical Specialties:
- Orthopedic Surgery – Spine, joint replacements, trauma fractures
- Neurological Surgery – Brain and spinal procedures
- Vascular Surgery – Endovascular repairs, stent placements
- General Surgery – Laparoscopic, robotic-assisted procedures
- Trauma & Emergency Surgeries – Real-time imaging for critical cases
Responsibilities:
- Intraoperative Imaging:
- Provide real-time imaging support during surgical procedures
- Operate C-arm fluoroscopy and portable X-ray machines
- Ensure optimal image quality for accurate diagnosis and intervention
- Pre- & Post-Procedure Duties:
- Prepare OR imaging equipment and ensure proper sterilization
- Assist in patient positioning for best radiographic visualization
- Maintain accurate documentation in EMR systems (EPIC preferred)
- Collaboration & Safety Compliance:
- Work closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical staff
- Adhere to radiation safety protocols (ALARA principles)
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards
Qualifications:
- Required Certifications & Licenses:
- Primary ARRT Certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) – Required
- ARRT (CT) Certification – Preferred
- State License: Must hold an active New Mexico Radiologic Technologist License
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required (AHA, American Red Cross, or equivalent)
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of current OR imaging experience
- At least one completed 13-week travel assignment preferred
- Experience with EPIC EMR preferred
Schedule & Work Conditions:
- Shift: 10- to 12-hour varied shifts (subject to department needs)
- Workweek: 36-40 hours per week
- Call Requirement: On-call, weekends, and holiday rotations required
- Floating: Required to alternate locations within 20 miles of assigned facility
- Scrubs: Required but not provided by the facility
