Swim Omaha (SO) is a non-profit, board-governed, and coach-led competitive swimming organization serving the Omaha, Nebraska community for over 30 years. With approximately 165 members, SO supports swimmers from the Novice to Junior Nationals level. The club operates four developmental age groups and a senior group across three locations: Westside, Ralston, and Millard North High Schools. Additionally, it utilizes a 50-meter outdoor training facility at Hitchcock Park for morning sessions in June and July.

Westside High School is currently constructing a state-of-the-art Myrtha pool, featuring an 8-lane, 25-yard pool with a bulkhead and two auxiliary lanes. Expected to open on November 1, 2025, this facility will become SO’s primary training site.

The Head Coach/Program Director is a full-time, salaried role responsible for overseeing Swim Omaha’s entire program, serving as the Senior Group Lead Coach, managing staff, and handling administrative duties. This position requires active on-deck coaching and a commitment to high technical standards, team culture, and coaching development.

Swim Omaha covers all travel meet expenses, certifications, and coach education. The ideal candidate has extensive coaching experience across skill levels, a strong grasp of stroke technique, and a passion for swimmer development. We seek an energetic, communicative, and dedicated coach who prioritizes both athletic performance and character growth, upholding the highest ethical and moral standards.

Qualifications:

  • Represent Swim Omaha professionally, adhering to USA Swimming, Midwestern Swimming, and Safe Sport policies.
  • Maintain all required USA Swimming credentials, including Background Check, Athlete Protection Training, Safety Training, and CPR.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and customer service skills with swimmers, parents, staff, and community members.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience coaching senior-level swimmers; ASCA Level certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, TeamUnify, and HyTek Meet Manager.
  • Knowledge of current technique development and training methods.
  • Experience coaching swimmers aged 6-18 across all skill levels.
  • Foster a supportive environment that promotes a love for swimming, continuous improvement, and team growth.

Lead Senior & Head Coaching Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute seasonal training plans for Senior-level swimmers, adjusting as needed.
  • Conduct swimmer evaluations, providing feedback and reinforcement for improvement.
  • Lead 7 practices per week during the school year and 8-9 in summer, adjusting as necessary.
  • Coach at 1-2 meets per month, including Sectionals, Futures, TYR Series, Junior Nationals, Senior Nationals, and Olympic Trials.
  • Design engaging, skill-based practices that challenge and motivate swimmers.
  • Create and distribute the seasonal meet schedule in a timely manner.
  • Lead seasonal parent meetings and provide updates for the weekly club newsletter.
  • Offer goal-setting meetings for swimmers and parents each season.
  • Track swimmers' progress, goals, and attendance.
  • Hire, supervise, and manage Swim Omaha employees, including lead and assistant coaches.
  • Collaborate with staff to set benchmarks for swimmer improvement across all levels.
  • Schedule and lead quarterly staff meetings.
  • Mentor Lead Coaches, ensuring proper training plans and dryland workouts.
  • Conduct weekly site visits to age-group practices during high school swim season.
  • Serve as the primary parent contact, responding to inquiries within 24 hours.
  • Handle new membership inquiries, including scheduling swimmer evaluations.
  • Manage disciplinary issues per team policies.

Program Director Responsibilities

  • Attend Board of Director Meetings and assist in club marketing and swimmer recruitment.
  • Coordinate summer league clinic outreach (3-4 programs) and the annual Stroke School Clinic (4-day event in August).
  • Serve as coach liaison with rented pools to manage availability and scheduling.
  • Collect and publish weekly newsletter updates from Lead Coaches.
  • Arrange lodging and room blocks for away meets.
  • Oversee meet entries and distribute relevant information.
  • Act as Meet Director, managing logistics for three annual swim meets, including facility booking, meet sanctioning, invitations, scheduling, and results. Additional meets may be compensated separately.
  • Maintain and enhance the club’s social media presence and website in coordination with the Board.
  • Manage membership tasks, including billing, registration, and volunteer sign-ups.
  • Assist with club finances alongside the Treasurer and Board.
  • Support and coordinate fundraising efforts as directed by the Board.
  • Collaborate with the Board to refine the club’s vision, mission, and communication strategy.
  • Develop and execute growth strategies in partnership with the Board.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $51,004.00 - $60,000.00 per year
