Position Title: Swine Technician
Reports To: Swine Farm Manager
Overview: The swine technician is responsible for assisting with the daily tasks of caring for animals on the farm. Some duties include breeding, farrowing, feeding sows, moving sows, weaning piglets, vaccinating, processing, pressure washing, and record keeping.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure a proper animal environment, including but not limited to ventilation, water, feed, and animal husbandry.
- Exhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies and working on new projects.
- Assist in power washing, as assigned.
- Follow all biosecurity measures as per policies.
- Ensure the highest level of a safe work environment.
- Maintain PQA Plus & TQA certification status.
- Complete all assigned training, including but not limited to safety and OSHA.
Physical Demands
- Required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to move through the farm.
- Required to have the ability to stand, walk, kneel, crouch, climb 4-foot gates.
- Required to have the ability to manipulate (life, carry, move) medium to heavy weights of 50-75 pounds.
- Required to have satisfactory hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp.

- Passion for animal care and welfare.
- Ability to follow direction with attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Regular, consistent attendance.
Required License/Certification
- Driver’s License
