Job Description:
We are Hiring Immediately for a Production position in an exciting warehouse facility!

The Chef This role oversees all kitchen operations and activities at the Fort Collins Rescue Mission (FCRM) facility. Responsibilities include managing the kitchen and cafeteria operations, inventory management, supervising kitchen staff, preparing meals, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, maintaining cleanliness, creating schedules, and coordinating special events.
ResponsibilitiesInventory Management- Maintain adequate food supplies for daily meal services, including trips to collect donations or food bank items as needed.
- Supervise the receipt of both purchased and donated food, accurately count all donations, and include them in the weekly Gifts in Kind (GIK) report.
- Implement and maintain an inventory system that tracks all food supplies, ensuring proper rotation and organization in storage areas.
- Record and provide food requisitions, deliveries, and USDA donation data as requested by the Assistant Director or DRM Inventory Coordinator.
- Develop weekly meal menus that optimize food purchases and donations, ensuring they are published at the start of each week. Plan and oversee meal preparation for special events and holidays.
- Procure necessary supplies, such as monthly cleaning products and daily meal ingredients, when needed.
- Train residential food service staff on proper food delivery practices, including hygiene, inventory management, food preparation, cleanup, and menu development.
- Supervise Program Assistant Cooks, establish weekly schedules, and oversee their adherence to job descriptions.
- Coordinate and oversee the preparation of all meals, including weekend operations, while adhering to USDA and public health food preparation standards.
- Ensure compliance with personal hygiene, food handling, cleaning, and sanitizing practices as outlined in the "Food Sanitation Manual." Maintain all necessary hygiene records and logs.
- Complete any required training, such as ServSafe certification.
- Secure the kitchen, including food storage areas and equipment, and ensure proper maintenance of all kitchen equipment.
- Supervise catering operations and food services for external agency events.
- Oversee volunteer services in collaboration with the volunteer coordinator, regularly reviewing evening volunteer kitchen operations.
- Implement regular training on kitchen procedures, conducted weekly.
- Maintain a comprehensive kitchen policy and procedure manual, in consultation with the Facility Director.
- Supervise community service guests assigned to the kitchen.
- Follow all standard staff procedures regarding illness, reports, job-related issues, and supervision.
- Effectively delegate responsibilities to volunteers while treating them with respect.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure adequate coverage, particularly during holidays or staff absences.
- Participate in regular staff meetings and assist with additional assignments as needed, which may involve facilities, operations, or maintenance tasks.
- Knowledge of food industry practices and sanitation codes.
- Ability to remain positive and composed under stress.
- Proficiency in cooking large quantities of nutritious and flavorful meals.
- Strong management and training skills for working with rotating kitchen helpers.
- A heart and desire to serve those in need within a Christian environment.
- Flexibility to cover shifts when other kitchen staff are unavailable.
- Valid drivers license with insurability.
- Completion of ServSafe Certification within 90 days of employment (training provided by Fort Collins Rescue Mission).
