Job Summary
THIS IS AN ON-SITE ROLE IN KATY, TX. CANDIDATES MUST BE LOCAL TO BE CONSIDERED
The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for managing engineering activities in the rotating and static equipment categories, including compressors, turbines, pumps, cryogenic storage tanks, exchangers, cooling towers, and more. The role involves providing technical expertise, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, collaborating with international vendors, and supporting projects from proposal to execution phases. This is a hands-on, technical role requiring a self-sufficient candidate with extensive experience in engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) environments.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee engineering activities for rotating and static equipment on projects in collaboration with international centers.
Recommend cost-effective technical solutions that meet customer requirements and optimize the total cost of ownership.
Provide technical support for proposals and projects, including risk identification and mitigation planning for equipment.
Manage technical reviews during project execution, including :
Analysis of supplier proposals
Preparation of technical comparison tables
Review of supplier documents (e.g., plans, procedures, calculation notes)
Communication with suppliers to ensure project alignment
Participate in problem-solving during design, manufacturing, installation, start-up, and operations phases.
Support operational teams and address non-conformities through root cause analysis and improvement initiatives.
Ensure technical documentation, processes, and lessons learned are updated and traceable.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain effective internal communication.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in EPC roles, with expertise in rotating and static equipment.
Previous exposure to cryogenic technologies is a plus.
Familiarity with workshop visits and inspection of mechanical equipment (e.g., pressure vessels).
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of mechanics, thermodynamics, static equipment, and mechanical integrity.
Proficiency in interpreting PFDs, P&IDs, and related technical drawings.
Experience with technical standards, such as API, ASME, ISO, ANSI, and TEMA.
Familiarity with SAP or Google platform tools (preferred but not required).
Experience preparing RFQ packages and communicating with international vendors.
Soft Skills
Excellent communication and coordination skills with internal and external stakeholders.
Self-sufficient and capable of managing technical responsibilities independently.
Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Additional Details
Occasional travel (less than 10%) to various sites for meetings or workshop visits.
This role does not require procurement or negotiation skills.
EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus but not required.
