Job Description:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Museum/Gallery Logistics Clerk to support the handling and packing of valuable and fragile collections for a long-term museum or gallery project. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing a wide variety of collections for shipment, ensuring they are packed with care and precision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safely handle and pack various types of collections, including works of art, historical artifacts, natural and physical science specimens, archival and library materials, audio and visual media, paper records, photographs, and digital assets.
- Pack and prepare for shipment collections of varying sizes, weights, and fragility, using best practices to ensure preservation and safe transport.
- Apply knowledge of material composition and potential hazards to ensure safe packing and shipping.
- Handle and pack culturally sensitive items, adhering to specific protocols for unique handling or transportation needs.
- Collaborate with logistics and transportation teams to coordinate shipments and ensure safe delivery.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all items packed and prepared for shipment.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in art, artifact, archival, and/or library collections handling and packing, especially for shipment.
- Ability to work with collections of varying complexities, sizes, and material compositions.
- Knowledge of packing techniques and materials required for fragile or hazardous items.
- Experience with culturally sensitive collections is a plus.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to ensure seamless coordination across teams.
