Director of Nursing
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Nursing Director (ND) develops and manages the schedule of all nursing and MHT staff. The ND advises the CEO regarding the productivity of staff and ensures efficacy and efficiency of nursing services. The ND communicates effectively with all staff and ensures they are performing their job duties according to policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES
- Schedules Nursing and MHT staff to ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Oversees Nursing and MHT staff and provides guidance, supervision, and support to ensure high standards of care.
- Conducts quarterly reviews of nursing performance indicators, including timeliness of charting orders and critical incidents; medication errors; use of PRN medication.
- Complies with federal HIPAA regulations and practice policies for the privacy and securities of patient information; explains the law and our privacy policies as needed; maintains appropriate documentation of access to medical records.
- Participates in the facility’s performance improvement programs as directed by CEO, by reporting any anomalies in nursing staff performance indicators.
- Collaborates with all departments to ensure cohesive resident care. Communicating department needs, challenges, and achievements to the leadership team.
- Works in conjunction with Clinical Director to ensure all staff are adequately trained to manage behaviors and crisis.
- Works in tandem with Clinical Director, HR Director and CEO to ensure that all services provided are trauma-focused, incorporating trauma-informed cared principles in all aspects of treatment and support.
- Ensures ongoing professional development for the nursing team through training programs, continuing education and skill development.
Qualifications
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Registered Nurse required.
EXPERIENCE
Supervisory experience a plus. Experience in mental health setting preferred but not required.
