Swisher Memorial Healthcare System is seeking a full time Patient Account Representative (PAR) in the business office.
Under the supervision of the CFO and Business Office Supervisor the PAR plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the business office. The primary function of this job is the day-to-day processing of claims, collecting payments, billing, and resolving questions/problems about patient accounts. The PAR is the primary source of information for patients/guarantors who call with questions about a bill and/or to make payments. The PAR contacts insurance companies regarding claims, updates account information, and provides basic administrative tasks on accounts. Additionally, they may call patients who are delinquent in payment by mail, and/or by telephone and assist with payment arrangements. The position may be assigned other duties as necessary and appropriate to facilitate the needs of the business office or hospital.
Essential position education, experience, competencies and requirements:
Two years' experience with hospital or physician medical
billing and follow up preferred
Clerical / billing experience
Understanding of the (medical) revenue cycle
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication
skills
Demonstrated knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations
Attention to detail
Good attendance record
Excellent customer service
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
PC proficiency
Education: High School Diploma or GED required
