The Safety Specialist provides essential support to the Safety Manager in the development and implementation of safety programs, ensuring a safe working environment for all employees.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of established safety programs, policies, and procedures to promote occupational safety and prevent workplace accidents
- Distribute and explain safety materials and resources to educate the workforce and raise awareness of safety procedures and best practices
- Monitor and track safety metrics to evaluate program performance and prepare routine reports for management insight
- Lead and identify safety training and remain aware of future safety and training requirements
- Document and investigate accidents, injuries, and safety concerns to understand the root cause and recommend solutions to improve workplace safety
- Conduct routine inspections and audits of the organization's procedures, facilities, and equipment to ensure regulatory compliance, proactively identify unsafe conditions, and implement safeguards and solutions, as directed by the Safety Manager
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, and training sessions
- Prepare safety reports and documentation
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, Natural Sciences, or a related discipline
- 2 years of safety and health work experience related to OSHA regulations or the overall equivalent
- Basic understanding of safety regulations
- Good communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain safety procedures
- Ability to collect, organize, and analyze basic data and identify trends
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- OSHA 10 or 30 hour certifications
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field
- Experience in Safety and Health programs supporting heavy manufacturing
