Key Responsibilities

Management Tasks:

  • Work as a member of the MDF Plant Management Team.
  • Promote and enforce company safety requirements.
  • Selection and development of skilled personnel.
  • Management and daily direction of shift personnel.
  • Conduct annual performance appraisals.
  • Monitor shift performance in all plant operational areas.
  • Manage ‘housekeeping‘ expectations for all work areas.
  • Manage control room environment and professional conduct of shift team members.
  • Ensures consistency-in-approach with Shift Supervisor counterparts.
  • Meet production and quality metrics.
  • Other assignments at the discretion of the MDF Plant Manager.

Professional Tasks

  • Monitor and maintain the training plan for assigned shift team members.
  • Conducts daily activities in a manner which promotes plant productivity and reliability.
  • Creates a ‘continuous improvement’ culture within assigned shift.
  • Ensure a professional, collaborative, and productive relationship with the MDF Plant Technologist.

Human Relations

  • Personal attendance should be predictable and a model for the team.
  • Availability to work 12 hour rotating shift schedules, overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, plus respond to occasional off-hours callouts to ensure plant reliability of operations.
  • Be fully responsible for attendance and payroll administration through ADP for the team to include disciplinary actions when required.
  • Remain accessible and visible throughout the shift displaying a sense of urgency, practical decision making with sometimes incomplete information and the ability to exercise sound judgement in a demanding work environment.
  • Address concerns with all employees that are experiencing negative performance through proper coaching and administering progressive discipline when required.
  • Address observed behaviors that could be potential safety, quality, and performance risk taking countermeasures and corrective action as required.
  • Ensure that operators are on “on task,” working with a sense of urgency, attention to detail, focus and concentration.
  • A problem solver who works well with other plant and company employees; a team player who requires minimal oversight, is flexible, resilient, and reliable.
  • Must be able to interface with others at all levels, from executive to hourly.
  • Must exemplify and apply the Swiss Krono values.

Professional Experience

  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • A minimum of 2 years plant operations supervisory experience or 3 years plant experience as an operator in a manufacturing/industrial environment (preferably in an MDF plant).
  • Strong leadership and social skills, with an even temperament
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities, establishing and achieve goals.

Education And Specialized Skills Profile

  • High school diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year college (or equivalent work experience).
  • Practical experience and knowledge of SAP.
  • Personal computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs Must have excellent communication skills.
  • Must be self-directed and capable of influencing others.
  • Availability to work rotating shift schedules, overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, plus respond to occasional off-hours callouts to ensure plant reliability of operations.
  • A sense of urgency, a capacity for accurate decisions and the ability to exercise sound judgement in a demanding work environment.

  • Candidate will be exposed to loud noise that may exceed 87 decibels.
  • Candidate must be able to work in environments that include elevated and low temperatures with dusty conditions.

Mobility And Physical Requirement Profile

  • Work location is Barnwell. This job operates in a manufacturing environment.
  • Be expected to stand for a full shift. Employee will be required to perform climbing stairs, walking, squatting, kneeling, or driving lift truck duties at variable frequency.
  • There is occasional lifting that may require handling of components which can weigh up to 50 lbs.
  • While performing the job duties of this job, the employee regularly operator HMI, communicate by talking on radio, and walk constantly throughout 12 hours shift that works days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and walk and talk or hear; and use hands to finger, handle, or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee must occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, temperature extremes, combustible dust fumes or airborne particles, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
  • This is a full-time position, and hours of work are a 12-hour rotating shift, 6:45 to 7:00

  • Internal: Flooring, Maintenance, Production Planning, Procurement, Logistics, Product Development and Sales.
  • External: Vendors, Suppliers, Service Contractors, and other Swiss Krono Plant personnel.
