Position Overview
The Environmental Engineer will be responsible for managing air compliance activities, ensuring day-to-day and long-term adherence to environmental regulations. This role includes emissions monitoring, compliance reporting, and overseeing regulatory procedures to maintain and improve air quality performance within the facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor emissions data, air pollution control systems, and regulatory compliance reports, ensuring timely submission to appropriate authorities.
- Maintain impeccable records of reports and communications with regulatory agencies.
- Renew permits and licenses, and submit modifications as necessary.
- Interpret regulations to ensure compliance during upset conditions and assist in operator training for regulatory understanding.
- Coordinate regulatory stack testing with contractors and state agencies, managing the process from planning through report submission.
- Oversee compliance surrogate updates and manage changes in operator alarms, notifications, and training through the Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Provide oversight of third-party contractors and perform QA/QC assessments to ensure high-quality data submission to state agencies.
- Develop Requests for Proposals (RFPs), evaluate contractor bids, and manage budgets and projects under the guidance of the Environmental Manager.
- Ensure contractor compliance with company safety programs.
- Coordinate with the Maintenance Team to ensure environmental compliance monitoring equipment uptime and support necessary work orders and requisitions.
- Participate in company safety programs and ensure compliance with relevant documentation and SOPs.
- Provide weekend on-call support to resolve environmental compliance issues and assist during annual discharge season.
- Provide weekly updates on ongoing work and suggest solutions to emerging issues.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field.
- 5 years of experience in environmental engineering or operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Air Pollution Controls and Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS).
- Proficiency in Excel, including building spreadsheets, developing formulas, and using macros.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Experience working remotely and independently, managing projects and timelines.
- Strong computer skills, including Word, PowerPoint, and the ability to learn new software.
- A valid driver's license.
