Position Overview:
The Land Development Engineer leads the technical design for an interdisciplinary team, including civil engineers, project planners, and CAD designers. This position involves providing expertise in land development projects, sustainable design, utility design, and stormwater management. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with the unique requirements of design and permitting for development projects, including institutional, commercial, and retail projects.
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday, with the possibility of site visits as needed.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of civil engineering experience, with at least 3 years of design experience on land development projects.
- Skills: Proficiency with Civil 3D and Office 360 products (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Additional Experience: Experience with K-12 site design is a plus but not required.
- Language: Proficiency in English.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a team in the preparation of project drawings, calculations, and specifications.
- Prepare engineering analysis, design, calculations, and reports.
- Evaluate land use and zoning requirements, and be familiar with zoning ordinances and site plan approval processes.
- Prepare permit applications and navigate agency review processes to obtain necessary approvals.
- Conduct occasional site visits during the construction phase to assess progress and quality.
- Collaborate with design teams including owners, developers, architects, landscape architects, engineering trades, and contractors.
- Provide mentorship and training for junior staff.
Work Environment / Physical Demands:
- Office-based work environment with occasional site visits.
