Position Summary
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced Nurse Manager to lead our Emergency Department team in delivering uncompromising quality care, exceptional patient safety, and a superior experience for patients and their families. The Nurse Manager will foster a supportive environment for staff development and empowerment, promote interdisciplinary collaboration, and ensure effective resource allocation. This role involves supervision of the Emergency Department, SSH Clinical Leaders, and the Medic 55 ALS Program. The ideal candidate is a skilled leader with a strong clinical background in emergency care and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement strategies to support quality care, patient safety, and exceptional patient and family experiences.
- Develop an environment that encourages staff growth, empowerment, and best practices in nursing.
- Coordinate resources to deliver efficient, effective, and compassionate nursing care.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and communication across departments.
- Participate in recruitment, selection, orientation, and ongoing development of nursing staff.
- Ensure appropriate credentialing, training, and continuing education for nursing personnel.
- Oversee Emergency Department operations, ensuring compliance with standards and quality metrics.
- Promote teamwork, manage multiple priorities, and support project management initiatives.
Qualifications
Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Professional Nurse program.
- Master’s degree in Nursing or a related field.
Licensure:
- Required: Current New York State license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
Professional Certifications:
- Required: BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications (through RQI system upon orientation).
- Basic Coronary Care certification within 6 months of hire.
- CPI certification within 90 days of hire.
- TNCC certification within 18 months of hire.
- Preferred: Certified Emergency Nurse within one year.
Work Experience:
- Required: 3-4 years of experience as an RN in an Emergency Department.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Nurse Manager role.
Skills
- Competency in moderate sedation within six months of hire.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
- Proficiency in management systems and processes to lead departmental objectives.
- Analytical skills to assess, develop, and implement interventions and evaluate outcomes.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and model effective teamwork.
- Familiarity with The Joint Commission requirements.
- Required: Computer literacy with word processing and spreadsheets.
- Preferred: Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Meditech.
Skills and Certifications Summary:
- Required: Master’s in Nursing or related field, NY RN license, 3 years of ER nursing experience, 1 year in a Nurse Manager role.
- Preferred: Advanced certification in Emergency Nursing.

Pay: $110,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
