Essential Responsibilities And Abilities
- Oversee all phases of the construction project timeline.
- Play a key role in project planning, budgeting, and identifying resources needed.
- Manage the financial aspects of contracts (fee payment, rental equipment, income/expenses) to protect the company's interests while maintaining good relationships with clients. Responsible for the overall profit and loss of each project and proactively seek profit opportunities.
- Handle all correspondence between the contractor and subcontractors.
- Perform site visits to monitor construction progress regularly and hold status meetings with sub-teams.
- Ensure construction activities proceed according to pre-determined schedules.
- Draft and submit budget proposals, recommending revisions as necessary.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, documentation, and presentations.
- Work with assigned Superintendents to proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential issues, and develop contingency plans.
- Approve all invoices, payroll hours, and manage the billing process.
- Ensure compliance with contract specifications.
- Build and maintain business relationships vital to the success of the project.
- Work with and provide direction to project engineers, field engineers, and coordinators.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or equivalent technical training and/or related experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of project engineer experience working on heavy civil concrete structures, roadway, bridge, dirt excavation, and projects ranging from $5 million to $30 million.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience managing and supervising less experienced project engineers.
- At least 5 years of experience reading blueprints and specifications for heavy civil projects.
- At least 5 years of experience responding to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community.
- Proven ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
