Job Description:
We are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Quality Engineer (MQE) to join the growing team. In this exciting opportunity, you will serve as the technical manufacturing conduit between Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering, working closely with selected manufacturing sites (such as contract manufacturers) to drive scale-readiness for a growing family of energy storage products. The successful candidate will assist in the selection of materials, processes, and contract manufacturers for next-generation power conversion and energy storage products. This role will also involve leading efforts at qualified manufacturing locations to ensure the delivery of high-quality products to customers. The ideal candidate will be passionate about scaling distributed energy and committed to maintaining robust products and achieving aggressive quality and performance targets.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supplier/partner selection and development for high-reliability power electronics.
- Coordinate and execute comprehensive process audits at contract manufacturing locations.
- Develop and own quality performance metrics; work closely with a global network of contract manufacturers to drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
- Develop quality requirements specifications for high-reliability products produced by contract manufacturers.
- Provide critical input on materials and process choices.
- Participate in DFMEA and DFM activities for products produced at contract manufacturers.
- Own process flow, PFMEA, and control plans for new and existing products.
- Lead and enforce PPAP processes, ensuring tools and processes support consistent high-quality levels at contract manufacturers.
- Qualify equipment installation and setup in collaboration with the contract manufacturing team.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives at suppliers, using a formal trend management approach.
- Provide timelines and conduct cost analysis for improvement projects using lean sigma tools.
- Lead and drive all SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request) activities at contract manufacturing locations.
- Participate in corrective and preventative action processes related to manufacturing or material deficiencies.
- Proficient user of Engineering Change Control tools, ensuring effective implementation of all ECOs affecting products and production processes at contract manufacturers.
- Coordinate with engineering design, manufacturing engineering teams, testing departments, and other relevant teams as necessary (responsibilities may expand to include materials/process evaluation testing).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Industrial Technology, or equivalent experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in manufacturing high-reliability electronic or electromechanical products, with a focus on quality management in contract manufacturing or electromechanical assembly environments.
- Strong experience with solder chemistries/processing, electronics cleaning and cleanliness validation processes, conformal coating, and potting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Background in power electronics, consumer electronics, or commercial electronics.
- Experience working with international companies and in a matrix organization.
- Proven experience collaborating with multiple sites and functions to drive common solutions.
- Prior experience with hardware certification standards (e.g., UL1741).
- Mechanical and thermal analysis experience.
Salary : $80,400 - $109,000
