What are the responsibilities and job description for the ELECTRICAL DRAFTER position at Switchgear Power Systems?
Responsible for creating wiring and layout diagrams used by workers who erect, install, and repair electrical equipment and wiring in communication centers, power plants, electrical distribution systems, and buildings.
Basic Requirements
- Minimum Associate or BSEE in Electrical Engineering.
- 1-3 years of experience in electrical design (switchgear and protection controls)
- Problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience using SolidWorks Electrical or other CAD software.
- Solid understanding of one line, three-line, control schematics, point to point drawings.
- Excellent communication skills

- Interpretation of customer drawings (One Line, Controls, three lines, wiring diagrams and cable schedule).

- A good work ethic, along with high energy, agility and a positive attitude, high degree of self-organization.
- Strong approach to teamwork working as individual contributor or in a team environment in collaboration with cross functional teams.
- Excellent time management and time tracking is required to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a flexible and changing/demanding environment.
Basic Job Functions
- Operate independently and collaborate closely with application engineer, electrical engineer, and mechanical team on projects for clear communication and finalizing construction drawings package minimizing gaps/issues and improving quality to manufacturing/testing.
- Design electrical systems based on customer approved drawings. Understand and review customer redlines to support Electrical Engineers revising the drawings.
- Create & finalize construction drawings (control schematics, three lines, wiring diagrams, cable schedule, sub panel layouts and cross check BOM).
- Coordinate with the electrical and mechanical engineering team for door layouts, and conduit, wireway and cable tray runs.
- Follow engineering processes and attend meetings (Handshake/Design Check List) with the electrical engineer and mechanical engineer for sub panel, door layouts components, conduit, wireway and cable tray runs ensuring gaps are not found in manufacturing avoiding rework.
- Check construction drawings package by cross checking Design Check List prior to release of design to maintain quality.
- Process Engineering Change Notice (ECNs) and show urgency to promptly close issues for on time shipments.
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
