What are the responsibilities and job description for the Material Handler / Fabrication Technician position at Switchgear Power Systems?
Material Handler/Fab Tech – 1st Shift
Shift: Monday-Thursday 6:00am-4:30pm
Overall Responsibility
- Move materials (sheet/WIP) as needed to support fabrication (unload trucks, move material to/from various FAB departments).
- Load, unload sheets and parts off laser.
- Assist press brake in bending parts (2-man jobs).
- Assist weld with weldments (tacking, kitting, prepping, etc).
- Metal finish units as needed and/or based on demand.
Key Job Duties (not exhaustive)
- Able to use measuring equipment: tape measure, micrometer, etc.
- Understand mathematics to verify job requirements and specifications.
- Hold high quality standards to meet customer specifications.
- Follow company policy and standards.
- Able to operate forklifts and hoists.
- Keep work centers clean and orderly.
- Able to take and follow directives.
Required Skills and Experience
- 2 years Fabrication/Manufacturing experience & Forklift driving experience.
Desired Qualities and Attributes
- Ability to work and function as a team.
- Self-motivated and can work without much supervision.
- Strong communication skills (written, verbal).
- Is safety minded and puts safety first while performing job duties and functions.
