Overall Responsibility:

Manage all Quality Assurance Department activities including supervising QA team members, managing the QMS system, establishing and managing all inspection activities, developing processes and systems to support business growth and drive continuous improvements activities.

Key Job Duties:

  • Supervise QA team members (Quality Engineers and Quality Technicians).
  • Manage all inspections (supplier, receiving, in-process and final).
  • Coordinate with other department managers to support production schedules and delegate tasks appropriately.
  • Maintain the QMS and all related systems including (NCR, Q-Alert, SDR, VBB, CAR, RCA, 8D, ECN and internal audit).
  • Supplier qualification and development.
  • Lead all Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee calibration system.
  • Manage warranty and customer complaint systems.
  • Reduce waste (scrap, rework and other inefficiencies).
  • Implement and maintain quality dashboard for key metrics.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of ten years of QA experience with five years of direct supervision experience.
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining ISO-9001.
  • Experience in managing cross functional teams and projects.
  • Lean Manufacturing skills with waste reduction and continuous improvement and training.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Office Suite. Experience with electronic data collection.
  • Data collection and Business Intelligence skills with the ability to develop, maintain and improve KPI’s.
  • ERP experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with other department leaders in a fast paced and changing environment.
  • Goal focused with excellent time management skills.
  • Solid problem-solving skills with an emphasis in electromechanical assemblies.
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering drawings and models.
  • Ability to comprehend complex and technical electro-mechanical concepts and adapt processes to conform to new specifications and customer requirements.
  • Ability to operate company vehicles – must have a good DMV driving record.
  • Ability to travel to vendor and customer locations.3

Desired Qualities and Attributes:

  • Experience with metal fabrication, welding and painting.
  • Solid Works Mechanical design skills.
  • Ability to review engineering and weld drawings for completeness and accuracy.
  • Familiar with 1&3 line, point to point and electrical schematic drawings.
  • Solid knowledge of drafting including ANSI Y14.
  • Lean Six Sigma Certified.
  • Familiarity with AWS/ASME welding specifications.
  • Possess a strong attention to detail
  • Be flexible with working hours to allow for occasional overtime if the job schedule requires it.

Educational Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in quality assurance or engineering or production management, or in lieu of degree ASQ CQE or CQM or Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
