We are seeking a skilled and experienced planner to lead the development, planning, and execution of jigs and fixtures for the integration of two new vehicle models into a state-of-the-art paint shop. This position involves working on prototype tooling, supporting serial production readiness, and ensuring high-quality outcomes for each project phase
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Phase 1: Equipment Development and Prototype Tooling
- Develop tooling concepts and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Prepare RFQs, analyze bids, and recommend vendors for approval.
- Supervise the production of prototype tooling and exchange parts carriers.
- Oversee pre-series production testing and validate tool tryouts.
- Review and approve CAD designs and workshop drawings.
- Draft specifications for serial tooling processes and transitions.
- Support documentation for Statement of Requirements (SOR) and Proof of Approval (POA).
- Manage supplier delivery schedules and conduct acceptance testing.
- Track and report delivery progress and create status updates.
- Oversee tooling optimizations and manage supplier interactions.
- Assist with safety assessments and maintenance during tool deployment.
- Implement jigs and fixtures for multiple vehicle components, including:
- Doors, hoods, liftgates, benchgates, props, and spacers.
- Coordinate development of storage racks for Ecoat and Topcoat processes.
- Ensure seamless integration and usability of exchange parts carriers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in tooling and fixture development, particularly for the automotive sector
- Exceptional project planning and execution skills.
- Strong communication abilities for stakeholder coordination and reporting.
- Attention to detail and commitment to meeting project deadlines.
- Proficiency in CAD tools (Catia) and MS Office Suite; familiarity with KVS is a plus.
- Proven experience in the development of automotive jigs and fixtures.
- Knowledge of safety standards for high-voltage vehicle systems
- A high standard of confidentiality and data security must be maintained.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is normally performed in an office, laboratory, manufacturing floor, or machine shop setting where physical work includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, reaching, kneeling, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
- Must be able to understand and comply with all relevant safety practices.
