SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Swoon has an exciting long-term contract opportunity with one of the world's leading manufacturers of construction and mining equipment, who is actively seeking a Controls Engineer to join their team!
They are looking for an experienced Senior Engineer to play a key role in optimizing validation processes and driving efficiencies between base machine development and autonomous innovation. This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-impact projects that shape the future of advanced machinery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute strategic test plans to minimize redundant testing across multiple machines.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams, research groups, and validation experts.
- Define clear requirements for VPD, SIL, and HIL testing to optimize validation processes.
- Participate in workshops and technical discussions to refine testing methodologies and data collection requirements.
- Work closely with other business units to streamline research and development efforts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 5-7 years of experience in testing, controls, or validation engineering.
- Strong knowledge of machine performance, controls, and software development.
- Excellent project management skills with a proactive problem-solving mindset.
- Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to work across multiple teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience with large-scale vehicle or heavy equipment testing at the machine or system integration level.
- Understanding of autonomous operations and truck applications.
- Familiarity with specialized testing tools and validation processes.
