What are the responsibilities and job description for the CLNC Informatics Analyst position at Swope Health Services?
The Clinical Informatics Analyst will be uniquely positioned to understand the value technology can bring to the advancement of quality within a health care institution. This role will assess current and future technology needs. Will integrate clinical information process and education to maximize front line staff and providers' efficiency and skills. This role will adhere to nursing policy, practice and regulatory standards when designing in the current system along with educating front line staff on use of the tools. The Clinical Informatics Analyst provides assistance and technical guidance to the clinicians in the medical clinics and the behavioral health settings.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:
- Provides consultative services to customers and application and development teams as to workflow processes and technological solutions
- Follows through to ensure final resolution of problems, recommending longer term solutions when appropriate and communicating back to the individual reporting the problem
- Provide technical support, diagnosis of application errors and troubleshooting with system issues.
- Coordinates the changes in workflow process needing to be made with the system changes, specific to policy and practice standards and following change management protocols.
- Works with members of the clinic staff and IT Department staff to design and develop clinical documentation based on workflow and regulatory standards
- Assists in the maintenance and future planning in relation to the Super User Program
- Assist in the testing and implementation of new applications and upgrades
- Provides onboarding EHR training for providers and staff and works closely with the Clinical Nurse Educator to provide refresher, changed features or new feature training as needed
- Provides follow up one on one sessions with providers within 3 months of their start date to identify any workflow issues and to assist with templates, favorites, etc.
- Recommends innovative ideas, processes, and/or procedures for enhancements, additions, and modifications to improve existing systems
- Researches patient data across multiple applications to resolve discrepancies and/or improve work flow
- Utilizes tools to capture EHR data and compile into reports that are meaningful to end users.
- Create detailed project plans for clinics with eCW go-live application updates
- Prepare, educate and provide technical support to clinic staff when a new computer system or technical device is integrated into the healthcare workflow
- Facilitates meetings and brings working groups to consensus in relation to the clinical record.
- Provides leadership to team when manager is not available
- Will be responsible for some data reporting activities including running reports, auditing data and mapping EHR fields to data analytic software
- Other duties as assigned, including assisting with support tickets within the Applications Team.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
* Three to five (3-5) years of experience in healthcare required.
- Medical terminology and understanding of workflows are critical
- Bachelor's degree required
- Master's in Nursing Informatics preferred
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experienced as a clinician in clinical systems implementations and support including system configuration, custom development maintenance and software upgrades.
- Strong understanding of Patient Centered Medical Home requirements and reporting.
- Ability to compile, code and categorize, or verify information/data.
- Experience using Tableau is preferred
- Experience using Azara is preferred
- Experience using eClinicalWorks is preferred
- Knowledge of SQL is preferred
- Ability to utilize various tools to gather data from the EHR and compile into meaningful data for end users
- Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, and maintain a positive attitude
- Must be a licensed RN in the State of Missouri and/or Kansas
- Working knowledge of the relationship between Quality Improvement and Policy Documentation
- Broad exposure to a variety of clinical departments and patient care systems
- Strong problem and issue resolution experience.
