What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mammography Technologist position at Swope Health?
To perform screening and diagnostic mammography exams as well as some radiological exams. To assume quality assurance and quality control duties. Must be current with the ARRT and other according to bodies to perform mammography exams. Will have responsibilities to lead both ACR Accreditation and MQSA Inspections. Responsible for equipment maintenance. by calling for appropriate service and assuring preventative maintenance is performed. Swope Health Radiology is committed and focused on increased diagnosis and treatment of breast disease, and to assist their family members providing high quality patient care.
Primary Functions:
1. Demonstrates and exceeds all requirements for mammography technologist, as set forth in MQSA guidelines.
2. Performs daily monitor QC, and weekly, monthly, quarterly, and semi-annual QC testing on the mammography machine.
3. Assists with QA activities including the yearly medical audit and EQUIP to ensure compliance with MQSA.
4. Assists in ensuring operation of mammography equipment by troubleshooting, calling for appropriate service, and assuring preventative maintenance is performed.
5. Utilizes mammography tracking systems to ensure results and follow ups are communicated correctly and in a timely manner.
6. Helps to assist other technologists with daily exams, scanning, scheduling, sending and receiving images through the cloud and other coordinative and administrative activities necessary to accomplish the exacting and supportive services of the Radiology department.
7. Monitors daily workload to ensure timely service and meet client satisfaction and turnaround expectations.
8. Communicates effectively with staff and clients, responding efficiently to questions, issues and concerns.
9. Help in maintaining and updating Mammography policies and procedures.
10. Maintains a working knowledge of current trends and technologies in radiology/breast cancer awareness.
11. Uses critical thinking skills, to solve concerns within the Mammography Department.
12. Continuous quality improvement principles.
13. Maintain clean working environment by following proper infection control techniques and policies.
