$100,000 - $110,000 Annually
Summary (of position):
Under the direction and with the support of the Deputy Director of Clinical Programs and the Deputy Director of Residential Programs, the Assistant Clinical Director for Residential Programs is responsible for aiding in the delivery and oversight of Swords to Plowshares Residential Programs. These programs serve veterans with disabilities experiencing and exiting homelessness. Duties of this position include supervision of staff, oversight of clinical programs, quality review, and the safety and well-being of veterans living in Swords to Plowshares properties. Programs include the following:
Swords to Plowshares houses over 500 veterans across 6 housing sites. At our sites, we offer a range of services including low-barrier and low-demand stabilization housing beds, Safe Haven, in addition to supportive services for veterans in permanent housing. The Transitional housing and contract program focuses on securing permanent housing while addressing substance abuse, mental health and other barriers that could impact a veteran's ability to live independently. Supportive Services in permanent settings focus on providing clinical support and case management for veterans who have secured permanent supportive housing emphasizing housing retention. We also operate the Veteran Support to Self-Reliance pilot program across all our permanent sites: this pilot program offers enhanced services to veterans who are aging and live with a disabling condition.
Responsibilities:
- Supervision of assigned staff
- Timecard approvals
- Case conference facilitation
- Oversight of treatment planning
- Staff training
- Census management
- Client assessment and referral overview
- Overview of assignment of client caseloads
- Crisis intervention
- Liaison to referring clinicians, and serving as clinical resource, including coordination of treatment with other providers, especially the VA, and the liaison work that is required to accomplish this. This also involves supporting staff in their communication with VA staff
- The Assistant Clinical Director for Residential Programs will also contribute to housing efforts which might include for provisions of services and attending community meetings
- Assistant Clinical Director for Residential Programs will also share in on-call after hours’ coverage for the Safe Haven program. Will also share on-call duties with the Deputy Director of Clinical Programs and the Deputy Director of Residential Programs for emergencies
- Internal compliance management for the various grants to include but not limited to the Veterans Administration and Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing.
Supervisory Responsibilities (If applicable)
- Assistant Clinical Director for Residential Programs will directly supervise up to 6 staff across our housing portfolio
Desired Qualifications:
Education:
- Minimum of a Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work or related field.
- License required (MFT, LCSW, LPCC) within 6 months of hire.
- Training in the use of DSM V in order to develop provisional diagnosis.
- Training and familiarity with treatment protocols in Substance abuse, PTSD, Major Depression, Anxiety Disorders and Schizophrenia.
Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years experience providing counseling and other services to disadvantaged or otherwise “hard to serve” clients.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in multi-disciplinary treatment planning, individual and group psychotherapy, substance abuse counseling and crisis intervention.
- Minimum 2 years Experience in supervising staff
- Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of personalities and be comfortable working with an at-risk client population, including embracing the agency’s Diversity Equity and Inclusion policy.
- A thorough understanding of the problems faced by veterans from all eras to include a specific emphasis on homelessness, substance abuse/dependence, and post-traumatic stress and adjustment disorders.
- Excellent interpersonal and supervisory skills, including conflict resolution, crisis intervention, quality assurance, staff development, and performance appraisal.
- Effective time management skills
- Analytical and organizational ability. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to use general office software such as word processing, email and preparation of spreadsheets.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Travel between sites is required (mileage reimbursed).
