Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) College of Pharmacy in Weatherford, Oklahoma, a regional university in Western Oklahoma invites applications for a full-time, calendar year, faculty position responsible for directing the operations of the College of Pharmacy Rural Health Center. Reporting to the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, the Director will work closely with administration, faculty, staff, students, pharmacists and other healthcare professionals, professional organizations, and healthcare agencies to develop innovative approaches to improve health services and outcomes in rural communities.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to :
- Providing leadership and direction for the operations of the Rural Health Center, ensuring that activities and initiatives align with the mission and strategic priorities of the College of Pharmacy and SWOSU.
- Assessing the ongoing and emerging needs of rural communities and populations in respect to availability and access to healthcare education and services.
- Collaborating with rural pharmacies, hospitals, agencies, and professional associations to develop programs for community-based healthcare services for the advancement of the health and well-being of medically underserved populations in Oklahoma.
- Working with Rural Health Center faculty to develop health education and prevention programs and services in respect to disease states and emerging health issues which prominently affect rural communities and populations.
- Leading efforts to identify, propose, and submit grants to support rural health education and prevention initiatives and services.
- Promoting the advancement of rural community pharmacies by providing resources, services, and training in medication therapy management, point-of-care testing, immunization skills, diabetes management, billing and reimbursement, and other programs.
- Promoting the advancement of rural hospitals and health systems by providing resources, services, and training in remote order review, antibiotic stewardship, transition of care, and other programs.
- Supporting the education mission of the College of Pharmacy through facilitating the provision of didactic and experiential instruction regarding rural healthcare and services.
- Providing regular communications and rural health-related information to the College of Pharmacy, SWOSU, and community regarding initiatives and programs of the Rural Health Center.
