Who We Are
Southwest Research Institute is seeking a highly driven and skilled engineer for its Applied Power Division to help lead development efforts in Unmanned Systems to solve national security challenges.
Objectives Of This Role
- Act as principal engineer on multi-domain system of systems programs involving energetic solutions.
- Assist in design, development, and optimize unmanned aerial systems to enhance operational efficiency and innovation.
- Expand the division's efforts into new technology areas by heavily contributing to program development opportunities.
- Prepare and present development opportunities to management and clients for new work.
- Participate in UAS exercises and testing to gather critical field data and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Prepare and present documentation to improve safety, reliability, and effectiveness of new systems.
- Utilize SolidWorks and other CAD technologies to create and improve components essential for unmanned systems.
- Requires a Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering.
- 15 years: Developing programs and projects for US national security and military interests incorporating unique solutions for first-of capabilities.
- 15 years: Working cross-domain programs which implement unmanned or novel solutions for dynamic requirement missions as well as on classified programs and projects, working with national labs and government agencies in the defense and national security sectors.
- 10 years: Working with energetics and hazardous devices in a research and development capacity.
- 10 years: Project management of engineering development efforts for low volume, high reliability problems with short development timeframes.
- Active Top Secret / SCI Clearance required.
- A valid/clear driver's license is required.
