What are the responsibilities and job description for the LEAD ENGINEER - SR. RESEARCH ENGINEER - Spacecraft Avionics Engineer position at SWRI?
Responsible for design, analysis, documentation, verification, and test of spaceflight electronics hardware for signal processing, power generation and distribution, analog control, and communications.
Work on the full lifecycle design for related spaceflight electronics in high reliability systems for space applications; define requirements, write specifications, perform analysis and implement designs from concept to hardware; lead and work with team of engineers.
Interface with customers, and compile and present data to justify design.
Work with team of engineers across the technical spectrum.
Develop hardware solutions for various spacecraft systems.
Support simulation, analysis, and test of hardware to verify technical performance.
Provide input to analog and power supply designs.
Leading and supporting proposals for spacecraft and avionics electronics.
Complete documentation efforts associated with hardware designs, including specifications, user manuals, and test plans.
Identifying and leading internal research and development efforts.
Mentoring lower level hardware developers and identifying training opportunities for entry level staff to help and guide in career growth.
Requires a Bachelors or a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
5 years : Leading development of hardware for high reliability applications.
5 years : Leading team of engineers through electrical hardware projects meeting cost, technical and schedule constraints.
