Job Title: Public Relations Customer Advocate FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Work Location: 602 N. Staples, location varies Department: Public Relations
Reports To: Managing Director of Public Relations Grade: 21 Salary: $25.67 - $41.84
Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
General Summary: Under the general direction of the Managing Director of Public Relations, this position is responsible for ensuring customer satisfaction with inquiries or resolution of customer complaints. In addition, this position will proactively be the agency's customer outreach advocate.
Essential and Marginal Duties and Responsibilities: Essential and other important responsibilities and duties that must be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Conducts travel training for the CCRTA and assists individuals, including seniors and people with disabilities, in using public transportation safely and independently by providing hands-on training, teaching trip planning, and build confidence in navigating buses and trains.
Responsible and performs the duties of customer outreach by creating and assisting with events to promote the agency’s outreach efforts.
Responsible for attending special events during the day, in the evening, and at times during the weekend and giving presentations as needed to group throughout the community.
Assists with the gathering, verifying, coordinating, and disseminating accurate, accessible, and timely information in conjunction with the Texas Public Information Act Open Records for Public Information Request.
Provides customers with information about the benefits of riding with the CCRTA.
Obtains customer information and public opinion through surveys.
Identifies the target audience and engages with internal and external stakeholders.
Produces key messages that are aligned with the agency’s goals and objectives.
Assists with campaigns and manages customer communications.
Assists in the coordination and execution of customer-related events.
Responds and work with customers, Veterans, senior community, and student riders in the resolution of inquiries or complaints as needed.
Provides reports to the Managing Director of Public Relations on outreach events.
Prepares, coordinates, and implements specific promotional campaigns to raise awareness and use of transit and other Agency services.
Supports public involvement activities.
Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Excellent interpersonal relationship and teambuilding skills.
Effectively communicates in the English and Spanish languages both verbally and in writing.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or similar spreadsheet application(s).
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and/or similar word processing application(s).
Familiarity with Microsoft Access and Microsoft PowerPoint
Physical Requirements:
Standard physical activity includes, but is not limited to, sitting, standing, and walking activities. Essential and marginal functions require maintaining physical conditions necessary to carry/lift/push or pull loads up to 10 lbs.
Working Conditions:
Works primarily in a typical, climate-controlled office environment. The average amount of overtime and extended work hours are required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of the job, the employee occasionally works in outside-weather conditions.

Experience and Training:
This position requires any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the individual with the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job.
Education: Associate’s degree in business administration, Public Administration, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a related field or customer service experience. Previous Spanish speaking knowledge of CCRTA bus routes and services, and previous work experience with special needs individuals.
License or certificate: Possession of an appropriate, valid TX Driver’s License on the date of application as required for position to operate CCRTA vehicles. Certifications in Travel Training or related a plus.
