As we grow, we are seeking a Director of Human Resources to lead our people strategy across the organization. This is a pivotal role for a forward-thinking HR leader who thrives in dynamic, fast-scaling environments and is excited to build HR infrastructure, support a growing team, and collaborate with both corporate and franchise partners.
Position Summary
The Director of Human Resources will be responsible for designing and overseeing all aspects of HR strategy, operations, and compliance across both SweatHouz and Dogtopia platforms. This leader will drive talent acquisition, employee relations, organizational development, payroll, benefits, and policy implementation while also playing a key role in supporting new and existing franchisees.
This role offers the opportunity to create scalable people systems, influence company culture, and serve as a key strategic advisor to senior leadership. The Director will manage one direct report (an HR Generalist) and sit on the leadership team, collaborating across departments to ensure a best-in-class employee experience and support the unique needs of a growing franchise organization.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic HR Leadership
- Design and implement HR strategies and systems that align with company growth goals and evolving organizational needs
- Act as a trusted advisor to the executive team on talent planning, culture, performance, and organizational development
- Sit on the company’s leadership team, contributing to cross-functional initiatives and high-level strategic planning
- Build and lead a high-performing HR team, managing and mentoring one HR Generalist to grow with the company
Talent Acquisition & Development
- Oversee full-cycle recruiting for both corporate and field teams, building pipelines for high-quality talent.
- Design and execute onboarding programs that support long-term employee success and engagement.
- Champion training and development initiatives to support employee growth and leadership development.
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture across all locations.
- Lead employee relations efforts with a focus on proactive resolution, compliance, and employee advocacy.
- Design and drive employee engagement initiatives, feedback loops, and recognition programs.
Compensation, Benefits & Payroll Oversight
- Oversee compensation structure, performance review processes, and bonus/incentive programs.
- Manage benefit strategy and administration, including open enrollment, vendor relationships, and employee education.
- Collaborate with Finance and Payroll teams to ensure accurate processing and reporting.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple jurisdictions.
- Manage workers’ compensation and unemployment claims, partnering with relevant stakeholders to support employees and mitigate risk.
- Maintain and evolve company policies, handbooks, and HR documentation.
Qualifications
- 7–10 years of progressive HR experience, including leadership in a fast-paced, multi-unit, or franchise environment.
- Demonstrated ability to build HR systems, lead teams, and drive results in a growing organization.
- Deep knowledge of employment law, HR compliance, and organizational best practices.
- Experience supporting franchisees or distributed teams is highly preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence, advise, and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficient in HRIS platforms (Paylocity experience is a plus) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (HR certifications like SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or PHR/SPHR preferred).

Salary : $100,000 - $120,000
