We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to oversee the financial operations of our cannabis company. The CFO will be responsible for financial strategy, compliance, reporting, risk management, and optimizing profitability. This role requires a deep understanding of financial regulations in the cannabis sector, including tax laws (such as IRC 280E), banking challenges, and financial reporting complexities.
Key Responsibilities :
Financial Strategy & Planning :
- Develop and execute financial strategies to support business growth and sustainability.
- Create and manage financial forecasts, budgets, and cash flow models.
- Provide financial insights to guide decision-making and investment opportunities.
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management :
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local cannabis regulations.Oversee IRC 280E tax compliance and work with tax professionals to optimize financial reporting.Manage banking relationships and navigate cannabis-related financial restrictions.Implement internal controls to mitigate risks and ensure financial integrity.Financial Operations & Reporting :
Oversee accounting, financial reporting, and auditing processes.Prepare and present financial statements to executives, investors, and stakeholders.Monitor and manage costs, margins, and profitability.Capital Management & Fundraising :
Secure funding and manage investor relations for business expansion.Oversee capital expenditures and financial investments.Lead negotiations for financing, M&A activities, and strategic partnerships.Leadership & Team Management :
Lead and develop the finance and accounting team.Collaborate with executive leadership to align financial goals with company objectives.Provide financial training and guidance to key stakeholders.Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).8 years of financial leadership experience, with at least 3-5 years in the cannabis industry or highly regulated sectors (e.g., alcohol, pharmaceuticals).Strong knowledge of IRC 280E, cannabis tax structures, and regulatory challenges.Experience with financial forecasting, fundraising, and investor relations.Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and cannabis compliance tools (e.g., METRC).Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.Benefits and Compensation :
