What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Manager position at Sy-Klone International?
The Quality Manager is responsible for overseeing and driving Sy-Klone’s quality strategy, ensuring the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality processes in a dynamic ISO 9001 and 14001 certified manufacturing and engineering environment. This role will lead the Quality department to ensure compliance, efficiency, and excellence in product quality and process standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Quality department, fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality systems, policies, and training programs to comply with applicable industry standards, regulations, and Sy-Klone’s internal process tools.
- Oversee and audit the process requirements in nonoperational functions to ensure we are meeting required process capabilities and customer expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing quality performance data, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CPAR), utilizing Six Sigma methodologies, and leveraging process automation.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications by managing audits, documentation, and internal quality assessments across all functional areas.
- Oversee Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Processes (PPAP), ensuring seamless product launches and adherence to customer requirements.
- Direct and manage product testing, including new product release testing, material dimensional analysis, and both destructive and non-destructive inspection methods.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, engineering, and logistics teams to drive supplier quality management, including qualification processes and audits.
- Manage nonconforming material processes, equipment calibration, and inventory control, ensuring minimal disruptions to production and compliance with quality standards.
- Serve as the primary interface with customers and certification bodies on quality-related matters, audits, and nonconformance investigations.
- Develop and manage the Quality department budget, ensuring optimal resource allocation and cost-effective solutions to maintain high-quality standards.
- Foster a strong quality commitment within the organization by reinforcing compliance with Sy-Klone’s policies, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to mentor, develop, and lead a high-performing quality team.
- Effective problem-solving and analytical skills, utilizing Six Sigma, 8D, 5-Why, and other root cause analysis methodologies.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and industry regulations.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems for quality workflow tracking and automation.
- Demonstrated process improvement leadership capability.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in applied science, engineering, operations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality Management or Quality Engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, quality auditing, and compliance management.
- ASQ certification and Six Sigma Green Belt (or higher) preferred.
- Experience with supplier quality management, product testing methodologies, and continuous improvement strategies.

Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- At times may need to work in an Industrial warehouse environment with varying work levels and uneven surface areas.

- Normal auditory, visual acuity including depth perception and peripheral vision, ambulatory ability and dexterity
