The Sales Engineering Leader is a strategic leader who manages the sales engineering team and is responsible for developing and implementing application services for the OEMs and OEM dealers. This role is instrumental in developing the capability and capacity of Sy-Klone International to recommend solutions to OEM customers for first-fit, optional-fit, and field-up-fit opportunities for Sy-Klone products. The process includes collaborating with the OEM Account Managers to understand the opportunities, create value-based solutions, and communicate the differential value propositions to the OEMs. The person in this position is a leader with a passion for technology, adept at developing and influencing people, effortlessly managing priorities, and embracing challenges. Collaboration, relationship-building, and partnerships across the organization drive success in this role. The manager is skilled in collaboration principles, enforcing standards, best practices, and methodologies to ensure consistency and reliability across all OEM platforms.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage multiple projects, utilizing project portfolio management principles to navigate the complexity of projects spanning functions, organizations, regions, or cultures and aligning with commercial team strategies.
- Developing Sy-Klone’s capability and capacity to assess first-fit, optional-fit, and field-up-fit opportunities for OEMs and OEM dealers.
- Developing processes and technologies to assist the sales engineers and technicians develop solutions for OEM opportunities in the factories and the OEM dealers worldwide.
- Developing templates to transition the application opportunities into differential value propositions (DVPs).
- Managing technology resources to optimize and enhance our capability and capacity to create value-based application solutions.
- Collaborating with our distributors using technology to share knowledge while developing, installing, and testing field-up-fit solutions at OEM dealers.
- Implementing value-creating processes to solve OEM opportunities utilizing existing products.
- Implementing value-creating processes to solve OEM opportunities utilizing proposed new products presented to the Product Development Committee in project charters.
- Developing testing methodologies to ensure our product meets and exceeds OEM specifications and requirements.
- Collaborating with the product development committee to bring proposed project charters to fruition.
- Collaborating with the Training and Development Leader to model the capability development plan for sales engineers and technicians.
- Evaluating the development of sales engineering capability.
- Performing continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Aligning with the Chief Commercial Officer on the strategic plan for Sy-Klone International, including new applications, products, regulations, and standards.
- Collaborating with Territory Sales Managers, OEM Account Managers, and HR to evaluate sales engineering requirements and effectiveness.
- Developing the sales engineering process flow that aligns with technology capability and OEM and OEM dealer needs.
- Managing project portfolios, coordinating OEM sales engineering activities, and collaborating with OEM Account Managers and Territory Sales Managers.
- Aligning project portfolio with strategic goals by prioritizing projects, allocating resources, monitoring progress, and making informed decisions to optimize the overall portfolio performance, ensuring maximum value delivery to Sy-Klone International.
- Providing leadership with multiple projects, ensuring quality system regulation, compliant processes, strategic sequencing, and detailed milestone schedules.
- Planning, implementing, and controlling sales engineering budgets, including technology and headcount.
- Removing obstacles from team members so they can complete tasks and move their project forward.
- Creating training curricula and developing programs for sales engineering leadership and mentorship.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of training programs and adjusting as needed.
- Keeping pace with the latest sales engineering trends and best practices.
- Exemplifying the desired culture and philosophies of the organization.
Required Skills:
- Project Portfolio management skills to lead multiple projects involving OEMs and OEM dealers.
- Industry experiences to provide insight into Sy-Klone's specific challenges with cultural differences within our OEM and OEM dealer targets.
- The ability to apply and lead a team of sales engineers to optimize our return on investment for a portfolio of OEM first-fit, optional-fit, and field-up-fit solutions.
- Problem-solving skills that enable Sy-Klone International to identify and solve “real” problems in application opportunities.
- The ability to utilize technology to document and communicate our processes and solutions to the commercial team
- The ability to understand employees’ diverse learning needs and develop and foster an inclusive training environment.
- Budgeting and effective allocation of resources to ensure OEM and OEM dealer loyalty and satisfaction.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey our processes and technologies for creating first-fit, optional-fit, and field-up-fit solutions.
- Leadership skills that inspire and motivate the sales engineering team to engage OEM and OEM dealers in solution development and implementation.
- The ability to recognize industry change and update solutions to reflect new trends, technologies, and methodologies.
- The ability to identify team weaknesses in performance and implement actions to improve the capability and knowledge of the team.
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor of Science (BS) in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- A Project Management Professional (PMP)® Certification
- A Portfolio Management Professional (PfMP)® Certification, preferred
- 8 years’ experience with HVAC, air filtration, and engine precleaning systems. Experience in mining, construction, industrial markets, heavy equipment, and machinery sales or service.
- MSHA certification or the ability to pass certification requirements.
- Willingness to travel up to 20% onsite to various OEM, distribution sites, mining companies, and mine sites.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to a personal vehicle.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent leadership and analytical skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
