SyberJet Aircraft is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Systems Controls Engineer to join our Mesa-based engineering team. This individual will play a key role in developing and integrating control systems that drive the performance, safety, and reliability of our next-generation light business jets.
Key Responsibilities
- Control System Architecture & Development
Design, implement, and optimize real-time control strategies for flight systems, propulsion, electrical power distribution, and environmental systems. - System Modeling & Simulation
Lead model-based design and validation efforts using tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, GT-Suite, and SCADE for predictive system behavior and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing. - Leadership & Team Collaboration
Provide technical direction to cross-functional engineering teams; mentor junior engineers and ensure effective coordination across departments and suppliers. - Aircraft EE Systems Integration
Drive requirements definition, interface development, and integration of control systems across aircraft electrical and electronic subsystems with a focus on automation and system performance. - Testing & Certification Support
Develop and execute test plans; support system verification, validation, and certification aligned with aerospace industry standards including DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754A, and ARP4761. - Innovation & Technology Development
Contribute to R&D initiatives focused on emerging technologies such as hybrid-electric propulsion, automation, and advanced flight control logic
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering
- 7 years of experience in controls engineering within aerospace, automotive, or related industries
- Strong expertise in system modeling, control algorithm design, and embedded system integration
- Proficiency in model-based development environments (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, GT-Suite, SCADE)
- Familiarity with aircraft systems architecture and real-time system constraints
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with hybrid-electric or alternative propulsion systems
- Understanding of FAA certification requirements and design assurance processes
- Prior leadership experience within cross-functional engineering teams
- Strong problem-solving skills with a systems-level mindset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
