We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manager to lead our Machining Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, ensuring production goals are met, maintaining quality standards, and driving continuous improvement in machining processes. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in CNC and manual machining, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of machinists, CNC programmers, and operators.
- Ensure machining operations meet production schedules, quality specifications, and cost objectives.
- Monitor and optimize workflow, machine utilization, and tool life.
- Implement and sustain lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Develop and manage KPIs to track department performance and productivity.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate staff performance; manage shift schedules and labor allocation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, working closely with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams.
- Enforce company safety policies and ensure a clean, organized work environment.
- Collaborate with engineering and planning teams for new product launches and process improvements.
- Oversee inventory levels of raw materials, tooling, and consumables.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5 years of experience in a machining or manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a supervisory/management role.
- Strong knowledge of CNC machining (mills, lathes), G-code, and tooling strategies.
- Experience with ERP systems, production planning, and quality systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, etc.).
- Proficient in reading technical drawings, GD&T, and using precision measurement tools.
- Proven leadership, communication, and team-building skills.
- Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience in high-mix/low-volume or precision machining environments.
- Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (Mastercam, SolidWorks, Fusion 360, etc.).
- Lean Six Sigma certification is a plus.
- Primarily on-site role in a manufacturing environment.
- May require occasional overtime or weekend shifts during peak production periods.
