Job Summary
The Medication Technician plays a crucial role in providing high-quality care to residents in assisted living and hospice settings. This position involves the safe administration of medications, monitoring patient health, and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Role: Medication Technicians are a key part of the Sycamore team. They provide physical support to help residents stay engaged, safe, and independent.
Responsibilities
- Administer medications to residents according to prescribed schedules and protocols.
- Monitor and document residents' responses to medications, reporting any adverse effects to nursing staff.
- Provide compassionate support to residents and their families, particularly those dealing with hospice care or developmental disabilities.
- Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations within the facility.
- Assist with medication administration and documentation for residents in a senior living setting.
- Assist residents as needed with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, hair care, shaving, continence management, securing transportation, making and keeping appointments, use of the telephone and dining.
- Follows schedule in accordance to Pennsylvania Department of Human Services (DHS) standards
- Alerts Administrator of any change in resident's physical or mental health status
- Reports and documents all resident incidents and emergency medical calls to administrative staff
Requirements:High school or equivalent (Required) Medication Tech Certification (Required)
Skills
- Proficient in medication administration techniques and best practices.
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to patient care.
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities, including developmental disabilities.
- Familiarity with hospice care principles and practices.
- Ability to provide patient-centered care in an assisted living environment.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, for effective interaction with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
This role is essential for ensuring that residents receive the highest standard of care while promoting their dignity and well-being within the community setting.
