- The CFO is responsible for managing the financial operations of the organization and ensuring the organization’s financial health and sustainability.
- This role will oversee all financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and compliance requirements.
- This position will work closely with the CEO to develop and implement financial strategies that support the mission of Sycamore Services.
- This position requires attention to detail, strong reconciliation skills, and advanced analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Must also have ardent team management and planning skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task to meet deadlines.
- Manage, supervise, and oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records, including the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and other financial systems.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions and the work of the accounting team members to coordinate and prepare financial statements.
- Present financial statements to the board of directors, CEO, COO, program directors, and other staff.
- Providing management with information and reports vital to the decision-making process.
- Oversee grant revenue recognition and reconciliation of grant revenue and expenses.
- Manage the budget process and review and analyze budget performance and variances, providing analysis to the CEO, COO, program directors, and other staff.
- Oversee and ensure timely filing of all tax returns, annual audits, and various compliance and regulatory reports.
- Ensure proper reviews are completed for accruals, deferrals, journal entries, reconciliations, and work paper support for all financial accounts.
- Monitor payables, budget variances, and important trends and maintain business performance metrics.
- Monitor revenue, budget variances, and accounts receivable balances and oversee collection of revenue and write-off process.
- Enforce policies, procedures, and systems to ensure proper internal controls.
- Manage, train, and retain skilled accounting staff.
- Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and trustworthiness.
- Maintain, review annually, and update the financial accounting procedure manual as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Intermediate to Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel preferred.
- Listens to others intently and uses oral and written communication to deliver messages effectively.
- Maintains an important level of attention to detail, ensuring that one's own and other's work and information are complete and accurate.
- Demonstrates ability to teach and supervise others.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent experience and education.
- 8-10 years of experience in accounting or auditing.
- Competency with ERP software, Microsoft Dynamics Navision preferred.
- A minimum of three years of supervisory experience is preferred.
- Experience working for a nonprofit organization is preferred.
- Experience working in a public company and/or a CPA firm is preferred
- Must have the ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and reach frequently as needed.
