Sycamore Services is seeking a Direct Support Professional to join their team. A non-profit organization devoted to enhancing the quality of life for those we serve by empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other challenges that can limit daily activities. We offer personalized services across home, community, and office settings, tailored to meet the unique needs of each person we serve.
This position will assist with the Danville and Indianapolis North location's day programs.
- Planning and leading various activities that promote skill development and social interaction.
- Assisting with daily living tasks such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and mobility.
- Facilitate community outings and activities, helping individuals engage with their community, develop social skills, and access resources.
- Observing and reporting on consumers health, behavioral changes, ensuring medical needs are met.
- Build relationships with local organizations and resources to enhance the range of opportunities available to individuals.
- Ensure a safe environment at all facilities and during all activities, by conducting regular safety check
- Safeguard and respect the confidentiality and privacy of individuals supported.
- Maintain accurate records of individuals' participation, progress, and any incidents that occur during activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Communicate effectively with other team members, families, and external professionals about individuals' progress and any concerns.
- Utilize positive behavior support strategies to address challenges and reinforce positive behaviors.
High school diploma or demonstrated equivalent competency required.
18 Years of age or older.
Experience working with persons with disabilities in the community preferred.
Ability to manage multiple consumers simultaneously, ensuring that each individual receives appropriate attention.
Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation.
Ability to keep accurate documentation.
Knowledge of community and community activities preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate with consumers, families, and team members as needed.
Support consumers in the development of friendships and other relationships.
Creative thinking to address challenges and provide effective support in dynamic environments.

Willing to travel between Danville and the north side of Indianapolis (30-35min)
Physical Requirements:
Sit/Stand for long periods of time.
Ability to lift a minimum of 35 pounds; upper body leverage strength required.
Travel to Sycamore Service locations, events, and into the community as needed.
Speak clearly so listeners can understand.
Understand the speech of another person.
