As part of our continued growth, Sycamore Specialty Underwriters is seeking an IT Technician to manage and enhance our IT infrastructure and automation processes. As an IT Technician, you play a vital role in assisting with daily IT operations, integrating software solutions, and supporting team members to promote and maintain operational excellence.
The IT Technician is responsible for working with our Managed Service Provider to manage IT resources (including hardware, software, and network systems), verifying data, and providing essential administrative support to various Operational Teams, including Sales, Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, and Accounting.
This role requires a strong understanding of insurance operations, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills. Responsibilities
Systems Administration and Maintenance
- Assist with the management and optimization of core systems to support essential business operations and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
- Thoroughly test system configurations to guarantee they meet business needs and adhere to established standards.
- Monitor system performance and make recommendations to enhance system reliability and efficiency.
- Oversee the management of a Zero Trust Architecture along with annual cyber security audits to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
Technical Support and Troubleshooting
- Directly manage the Managed Service Provider relationship and assign the appropriate resources to accomplish long-term IT strategies.
- Ensure the timely resolution of hardware and software problems.
- Troubleshoot and maintain IT assets to ensure peak performance and minimize downtime.
- Provide after-hours support for planned maintenance, updates to technology, hardware, and software changes during non-business hours
Equipment and Inventory Management
- Maintain an up-to-date inventory of assets including hardware, software licenses, and cloud subscriptions.
- Ensure all IT assets comply with company policies and security standards.
- Monitor asset lifecycles and recommend upgrades or replacements as needed.
- Coordinate the procurement, provisioning, deployment, and disposal of IT equipment.
Process Improvement and Documentation
- Ensure compliance with security protocols and company policies for IT systems and maintain up-to-date documentation.
- Document IT workflows to streamline operations and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Develop user guides in coordination with the Operations Team to facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Empower end-users through training and support on system functionalities, ensuring they can effectively utilize available tools and resources.
Collaboration and Innovation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze existing processes, identify areas for improvement, and implement system enhancements.
- Design and implement IT automation solutions to improve operational efficiency.
- Stay informed of emerging technologies and industry trends and identify innovative solutions to support future growth.
- Assist in the planning of projects that enhance the quality and efficiency of the Operations Team.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 years of experience in IT management and/or support, preferably within the insurance industry.
- Additional experience may be substituted for lack of formal degree.
- Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and network systems.
- Proficiency in Office 365 administration
- Familiarity with remote desktop tools like Ninja RMM for IT support.
- Knowledge of automation tools and workflow integrations (e.g., Power Automate, API integrations)
- Data Warehouse and SQL experience preferred.
- Experience designing and maintaining API integrations preferred.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills with attention to detail and data security.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Outstanding ability to explain complex information and processes clearly and concisely to diverse audiences (technical and non-technical).
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques, with expertise in spreadsheet software and other relevant applications (strongly preferred).
