What are the responsibilities and job description for the TRIBAL IRRIGATION TECHNICIAN position at Sycuan?
Job Purpose:
Operates, maintains and repairs existing and new irrigation systems
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
(Note: Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the sole discretion of Sycuan Management at any time)
Ensures irrigation systems are operational by routinely inspecting systems, repairing or replacing broken or missing parts, installing new irrigation fields with main and lateral lines if necessary, ensuring final grade drainage to the storm drain box, installing and repairing backflows, and reading various gauges as related to the irrigation system.
Provides guidance to landscapers by answering questions regarding irrigation procedures and protocols and providing landscapers irrigation guidance in the performance of their duties.
Maintains safe work area by observing established safety standards while using tools, performing equipment repairs, and cleaning work areas.

Essential:
2 years of irrigation systems work experience
Driver's License in good standing

Skills and Knowledge:
Essential:
Working knowledge of equipment used in the development and maintenance of the irrigation systems
Working knowledge of main lines, gate and ball valves to isolate breaks
Ability to analyze blueprints and related drawings and make sound decisions pertaining to placement of irrigation/drainage systems
Ability to map out and install extensive irrigation systems to proper specs
Ability to understand and follow verbal directives
Ability to use mowers, backhoes, trenchers, push mowers, rakes, shovels, blowers, sprayers, hands saws, small tools, waters hoses, and weed eaters
Ability to drive landscaping vehicles
Ability to wire irrigation clocks and valves
Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers
Ability to delegate tasks amongst staff
Ability to repeatedly grasp and lift up to 100 lbs
Ability to bend and stoop
Ability to perform intensive labor for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
Ability to shovel dirt, sand, and other materials
Desirable:
Working knowledge of plant disease, insects, rodents, chemicals and methods used to control these undesirable elements
